About Kompashion
Kompashion is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to providing mental health resources and support to individuals and families facing difficult times, with a strong focus on Latinx and minority communities. Through curated care boxes, educational events, and advocacy efforts, we help people show compassion and find tangible ways to navigate mental health challenges.
Our founder, Maria, created Kompashion out of her personal experience supporting her mother’s battle with schizophrenia while facing the stigma surrounding mental illness within the Latinx community. This journey revealed the urgent need for culturally sensitive mental health resources and open conversations around healing.
At Kompashion, we believe in breaking the silence, sharing our stories, and building supportive communities where healing is possible. By blending mental health education, physical wellness practices, cultural understanding, and community connection, we are changing lives — one family at a time.
What Are They Saying About The Event
-
Thank you to Maria and her family for courageously opening up about a topic that so often remains in the shadows of our community. Listening to their story at the Emotional Wellness Fiesta made me realize I'm not alone and that I could get help. Their honesty showed me that my issues aren't as bad as I thought. Their vulnerability created a path for me to get the support I need
-
Thank you Trent Shelton for inspiring us men to get help. Great event with resources, open conversation and fun activities.

What made this event special was seeing mental health discussed openly in a Latino context. The experts addressed issues specific to our community, and the celebration aspect removed the clinical feeling that often keeps people away.
